I'm in a peculiar situation for my course. My lecturer has sent us all this Word document to edit.
1) I can open it on the uni computers (in the city). But I can't print from those.
2) I can print at work (also in the city). But I can't open the document on my computer there.
3) At home, I can't print. I can open the document, and spend oodles of time editing it. But I can't attach the edited version to an email and send it back to my lecturer - because it's a Mac, and it's in the wrong format.
So basically, I've been editing on my home computer, then going into uni, and manually typing out everything I've done again into the uni computers (but just copying straight from my laptop, so I don't have to spend time thinking).
Which is time consuming and lengthy.
But you know what's worse?
I finished my homework on the weekend. Then I came in today, with all my books, and my laptop, and lugged them across the city so that I could spend my lunchtime tranferring everything to the uni computers.
...and the uni lab is closed.
My lecturer is going to get my homework nearly a full week late, simply because the only computers I can finish it on have been inaccessible for the last five days. And I'm going to have to lug everything across the city again, tomorrow lunchtime.
Please note: I am not wanting computing solutions.
Please do not tell me how to fix the situation with this really cool program I can install in under five minutes. I don't want to know.
Please do tell me how I can fix the situation with a ferret, two pounds of sugar, and some nuclear launch codes. I definitely do want to know.
